Dave Devlin
David Devlin began his love of music practically from birth, growing up in a household that was nearly always playing recordings of all styles of music. He began performing jazz trombone in the early 1970s under the direction of Patrick Dillon and James Dillon. He got his bachelors degree at Luther College (IA) playing in their jazz lab band directed by Steven Amundsen. Moving west to New Mexico, David received a masters degree at Western New Mexico University where he played under Dr. William Tietze in the Cam/Com Jazz Band. David retired from 36 years of teaching and coaching and has been playing trombone in the Phoenix area since 2015. He also plays in the West Valley Wind Ensemble, the Ron Phillips Desert Foothills Jazz Band and Concert Band and has been a member of Big Band Grandstand since 2019. David has 3 children and 2 grandchildren and also plays guitar and sings!
